bye bye bottles?

I'm sure some of you are wondering what the heck I'm talking about. There's no way she's still giving almost 2 year olds, bottles!?!? Well, yep I am. Just one at bedtime if that makes it any better?? It's so engrained in our nighttime routine that I just kept doing it! Silly I know, but anyway enough defending myself. So Brian tells me that a couple weeks ago when I went out to dinner with a friend and he put them to bed he "didn't give them one, and they didn't seem to mind." WHAT!?! I thought this was going to be a MAJOR issue, worse than the paci with Grace. Especially since they have started asking for "ba ba's" while we read as if to speed the process along! So I didn't believe him, kept on giving a bottle, only about 4 ounces at this point-and really only for rituals sake. ANYWAY, long story short tonight they were in amazlingly good moods so I thought I'd capitalize and try this lack of bottle stuff out for myself. I simply told them "bottles are all gone," and gave them a sippy of milk while we read. Grace was a bit confused, took a few sips and handed it back to me. Klaire prodeeded to chug the whole thing. :) So- no fights, no issues, read a few books drank their milk, and walked together into their room. I still had a little cuddle alone time with each one like we always do, and now as I type they are chattering away to dreamland. This feels like a BIG milestone to me for some reason! Can I really pack up those bottles that have been on my counter for 20 months? I hope this wasn't a fluke night and tomorrow it's a war to go to bed, we'll see! By the way, does anyone need any bottles? We have about 15 of them, and they weren't cheap!

They are simply growing up too quickly, I wish I could slow time down somehow....only not during a tantrum phase:)

Oh, my gosh, what BIG girls. I'm glad it went so well, and I'm sure it will be the same tonight. Can't wait to see it for myself!!! See ya later...Love, Mom

I hope it continues to go well for you guys! Sometimes they surprise you, huh? :)

And YAY for no more bottles on the counter! We have a long ways until then. :)

When we gave up bottles I cried more than the boys. Then they got sick a couple weeks later and I tried to comfort them (or me) by returning the bottles...they had not interest.

I wish we lived closer...the kids could have a double playdate!
