We finally got in to see Dr. Troia (Sebastian) today. I called about a month ago because I had noticed Grace's right eye wandering when she was looking far away...especially when she was tired. He and his brother are well known in this area and the best for pediatric ophthalmology so we waited...
Of course I was all anxious thinking about how in the world you get a three year old, especially MY three year old to cooperate for an eye exam!? Turns out she did just fine. She sat still during the first exam to see if it was in fact "wandering", eye drops, waiting for dilation, and 2nd exam to check her actual vision. Actually, she was awesome. Perfect, charming even. She called him Sebastian and mentioned The Little Mermaid more than once, because I told her that was his name. We don't say the word Doctor much around our house! Speaking of, randomly Dr. U was there and noticed us in the waiting room while we were waiting for her eyes to dilate. He came over sat down and chatted with Grace for a good 10 minutes. No tears, she thought it was cool:) (He is SO cool).
Anyway, she has a lazy eye. Her vision is fine. So no glasses, but we are patching the good eye to make the weaker eye stronger. She gets a 2 hour break a day (I'm having helmet flash backs) and we go back May 6th to see the progress. He said how long she has to wear it also depends on "compliance." It's going to take some getting used to that's for sure, but so far so good for the last couple hours anyway! We'll hope we caught it fairly early and this doesn't lead to surgery.
I let her come back to work with me and she's happily sorting paperclips and wasting post-its as I type, with the patch on!
I'm SO incredibly proud of her:)

Glad the appt went well!! Hope the patch works! And is easy & short lived!
Miss Gracie, Gramma is so proud of you too. I knew you would be a good girl, and I loved the phone call about your new 'band-aid'! You girls never cease to amaze me! I love you and Klaire very much.

OMG We have noticed Kendal's eye has been wandering. I couldn't get her in here in Lincoln to the pediatric specialist until June 6th. We need to chat... I have been so up and down about the whole thing. Grace looks adorable!
