I must be getting brave because for the first time I took the girls to their yearly checkup all on my own! I know, what a baby I have been all this time!! They didn't need any shots this year so I figured I could handle it...and they are getting older and should be able to tolerate a simple checkup with the doctor, they did so well at the dentist after all!
Klaire weighs 44 pounds (94%) and is 43.25 inches tall (97%). She is no small fry! Dr. U did mention that we don't need to prod her to take "one more bite" and she can certainly be done with a meal whenever she wants to be, but also not to make a big deal about mealtime, because the more you focus on it, the more she will too. We need to (as all kids do) limit excessive sugar, buy whole grain bread instead of white bread-which I do, basically limit empty calories and add more veggies and lean meats. He's not "worried" per se about her weight, but we want to keep her on the right track. She only freaked out when he looked in her ears, and actually did scream right in mine again, but recovered well and he even mentioned about 3 minutes later when she was twirling around the room "well now she's had an attitude change!" Yep, just the ears, don't mess with them! Speaking of as far as he can tell they both have tubes still in place and if they don't come out by Spring, we'll have to go to the ENT to have them removed, doesn't THAT sound fun!?? He asked if they had seen a dentist and couldn't believe that she had a cavity filled a couple weeks ago, in the dentist office, with no trouble (screaming).
Grace weighs 34.8, lets give her 35 pounds (49%) and 40.75 inches tall (73%). Dr U. said, people probably tell you she's skinny, right? And you probably have trouble finding pants that fit her? YEP! He laughed and said, yep that's today's society. Anyway, she's the perfect weight, and right on track. Grace was totally cool as a cucumber the whole visit, and even told K to stop crying with the ear thing. She's definitely outgrown her fear of doctors (THANK GOD). One outta two isn't so bad I guess! He asked how the eye patches are going and did mention that she got a few wrong on the little eye test they give them. I'm pretty sure glasses are in her future someday, but for now she's in good hands with Sebastian.
To stop myself from rambling and boring you even more, the girlies are healthy and happy. No shots, and minimal tears. Good stuff.
On their birthday they got to go to the zoo with Papa Rick and Grandma Nancy. Check these out!:)

I won't be working on the day of their birthday ever again, it just didn't feel right!!!

i agree with your doctor: kids in america are so overweight and fat that a normal weight child looks thin. when in fact, even the normal weight child is heavier than most children in europe. it amazes me that the charts are not updated to give parents a true feel for where their children are.
your girls look wonderful and are gorgeous...:)
