the patch saga

I think I can officially call it a saga at this point. Back in June she was "released" for 3 months to watch and see if we could discontinue for good! Well...not so much-it can't be THAT easy!  We went in today for an 11am appt....and I will say I LOVE her doctor, but he squeezes probably double the amount of appts he should in.  So we show up at 11, wait till 11:30 to be seen. The waiting room was packed, I have ZERO patience these days, and I'm about at my limit. He decides he wants to check her vision (again) to make sure that's not why it keeps going back...so we wait another 15 minutes for drop and 20 minutes for the drops to take effect, and then for him to have time to check her again. Anyway, her vision is fine, normal for a 5 year old, and she is not a surgical candidate.  I really didn't think she was as the turning out is mild and rare at this point, but it's still there. We're going to do the patch after school and half days on the weekends, for a month then reassess. The best part is he said I could just call him to chat in 4 weeks, instead of come in for all this rigamarole (yes that is a real word).

Since we missed lunch time at school by a mile, I ran her through BK.  Unfortunately, they put too much ketchup on it so she flipped out, wouldn't eat it except the fries, I yelled (then apologized) and brought her back to school.  She of course cried when I went to leave.  Sigh. I'm glad its Friday.

AMEN to booking 2x too many appointments! We were there Monday. Love him & his skills & his knowledge. Hate the too-busy, too-big feel of it.

Why is she not a surgical candidate? Just because its so mild??

I guess because it's mild, and because it goes out instead of in? Who knows....we did not do well this weekend enforcing it. We'll do better this week! :)
