4 months

Henry is 4 months old today!  He's such a little cutie although little is not really a word I'd use for this guy.  He's generally very content...with a few less fussy times and a little less only tolerating being on my hip.  Lately he can go from perfectly happy to downright p'oed for no good reason we can figure out! I think he may have the beginnings of teething, with some drooling starting and definitely wanting things in his mouth on the lower gums. Some of his favorite pastimes of late are the play-mat with light-up star, about 5 minutes in the jumper, and watching his sisters jump around.  His all-time fav is in the evenings when we let him strip down and lay and kick.  He really gets going and is twisting to the side. I think it's only a matter of time until he's rolling! His neck is much stronger than just one month ago, and he can be on his tummy with it stretched nice and long for a few minutes now.  He still likes to be vocal and makes sure you're looking right at him to listen to what he's saying. In the mornings when he's supposed to be nursing, it's almost like he can't wait to tell me all about his night (as if I wasn't there) and has a hard time focusing on the task at hand. It's cute and a bit frustrating at the same time. He's nursing/eating between 5-7 times a day...one or two of those being at night. He's hungry, I get up and feed him. So be it. :) We might try some cereal around dinner time soon.  His 4 month dr. appt is on Friday so I'll wait for the go ahead from that and maybe after those darn shots to try it.  Everyone asks me if he's sleeping through the night, and when I say no, they say "give him some cereal!" I'm not so sure that's the golden ticket, but I guess it can't hurt to try. Overall he's a happy sweet little butterball of a baby. We love him to pieces and can't believe he's 4 months old already!

***We had his 4 month appt on Friday afternoon. He is right on track at 16.5 pounds (77%) and 24.75 inches (34%).  Dr. U always says, "well we didn't get him stretched out too well this time"  but I'm not worried. He's just gonna be a stocky guy:) When checking his ears he noticed some fluid that "will probably turn into and infection, tomorrow" so he got put on another antibiotic. Bummer, but I trust the doc and don't want another full blown infection. I think I'll budget for tubes in next years payflex account. We got the OK to start trying solids...and things have changed in the last 5 years. You don't have to start with rice, in fact they recommend starting with meats for the iron content!? You also don't have to try new foods for the 3 days or so blah blah. It's basically a free for all.  He gave me the article that says they think all the allergies kiddos have these days is from all the regulations that were put on orders of things. Strange, but it makes sense. I'm kind of old school still and we tried a little bit of rice last night. He spit most of it out but didn't cry or freak out about it. I think we'll keep practicing  Anyway, he got his vaccinations and cried some mad tears and we were on our way!
