While Friday's date is a numerical oddity, 08/08/08, a Wayne, Nebraska man is adding a fourth eight to the date by celebrating his 80th birthday.
Keith Erickson a native of Wayne, Nebraska, Keith says it's a special day because this oddity doesn't happen to everyone. "It just comes out that way," Keith said. "I was born on 08/08/28. So, now, on 08/08/08 I'm 8-0."
Through out the years Keith has experienced quite a bit from being an Army staff sergeant in the Korean War, raising a family, and being a retired farmer on his family homestead that was founded over one hundred years ago. "I was born and raised right here," Keith said. "My granddad homesteaded this place in 1884, they lived here until my folks lived here, and then we lived here. No-one but an Erickson's lived here for 125 years."
Keith along with his wife Fern will continue the birthday celebration though out the weekend with his children, grandchildren and the newest edition to the family, twin great granddaughters.
