tube update
I couldn't think of anything clever to call this, so tube update it is. The girls have had their tubes for a good year and we went in on Monday for a check up to make sure all was still well with them, or to check if they had fallen out yet. I ended up taking them myself because it was supposed to be a quick check and should have been easy. Ha. I should learn by now that nothing is as easy as it should be. Grace started flipping out the minute I turned the wrong way to go to "papas house" I told them we were going to go stop by the doctor and it would be no big deal. 2 minutes in fact! Famous last words. She was not happy, a little anxiety ball in fact. Klaire was cool as a cucumber. I did my best to distract them and the doctor finally saw us. She looked in their ears for 5 seconds and says "I can't see anything, lets assume they are fine." Um, what? No offense but I just paid you $60 in co-pays and my insurance paid God only knows how much, and I'd like to know what's going on in there. I realize they were kinda crying and not really looking forward to any more quality time with the doctor, but seriously? She says, well we can dig around in there a little, if you want me to. Yep, sure do! Long story short, we had to switch to a procedure room and they each had to lay on a table with a huge light on it. They both went ballistic and it took 3 of us to hold Klaire down (she is STRONG). You guys, she pulled so much crap out of their ears. I have a pretty strong stomach since becoming a mommy and can even catch vomit without batting an eye, but this. was. disgusting. I have no idea how either one of them could hear. Hey, maybe that's why they don't listen to me!!!?? Apparently this is normal because the doc nor the nurse batted an eye. Bottom line: Tubes are in place. Sent us and their new clean ears on our way. (I did ask if it's something I'm doing, or not doing, and said I DO bathe them!-she said nope, just happens) yuck.

Good for you!! So glad you asked for them to take a closer look and not walk out like some moms would do and be afraid of having to hold their kids down (I hate having to watch them give Jackson shots)!! And now they have clean ears and you know the tubes are still there! Yay for you! And I don't think I could ever catch vomit...YUCK!!
I found you blog through multiples and more. I have g/b twins who will be 2 in a ouple of weeks and an older son who will be three in March. We are having my daughter evaluated for tubes in 2 weeks due to fluid in her ears that has not lessened, if anything it's worse. It's good to hear that you noticed a major difference after the tubes. All 3 kids have a speech delay.
