baseball hydrangeas and pumps

How's that for a post title!!!?

Last weekend we got the fams together for an evening out at the baseball game.  The kids all had a great time, ours trying to get as many snacks out of us as possible. We had discussed earlier that they could have one thing, and they picked cotton candy. Bleh! But they loved it and it kept them awake for the fireworks at the end of the night!

Menards had hydrangeas on sale and I had a gift card from my birthday from mom and dad (they know me well) so it was perfect timing to try to complete the hydrangea field I have going on in the front yard.  I spent a lot of time trying to think of something to fill that landscaping, and realized why not fill it with what I love!?  They bloom all summer (hypothetically) and are pretty easy maintenance.  I had a few already established in there, I got some for my birthday from Rick and Nancy, and bought 5 more yesterday!  We got them planted last night and I LOVE them.  Just picture when they are all full grown and the same size.  Perfect. Now, to work on those horribly faded shutters!

The girls mowing, taking care of babies, and being brides. They are multitaskers!

The other day I bought a pump (in-style, they call it! Why on earth do they call it that, has anyone ever "pumped in style!?" Ridiculous!).  The girls were fascinated by this piece of machinery. It led to many questions.  To which I tried to explain "Girls, when mommies have babies, in order to feed the baby the best way, special milk comes out of their boobs." (I should have used the correct word, but I don't think they know that term)  Grace literally gasped and said "That's disgusting!!!" She was horrified.  Klaire was very quiet. then with exasperation said, "Mom, just go buy some bottles!"  Then they both got the giggles and couldn't stop.  It was pretty funny, and I'm sure I haven't heard the last of it. In fact, in the car the next morning, it was very quiet in the back seat which is very odd these days. Finally, Grace said "mom, does milk REALLY come out of your boobies?"  They don't believe me. :)

Yes, I'm going to give it a big effort this time as I don't have the "but I have two babies" excuse:)

Great post. Your girls will be fascinated by breastfeeding once they get a chance to see it "in action" although I do agree with them, milk from your boobies is a pretty strange concept! ;)

That's hilarious, I wish you would have recorded that conversation. I'm excited that you are going to try it. (yes, did I just say that). Did I tell you that Chris' aunt is a lactation specialist..?? she travels all over the country for seminars on the subject! Its nice to know in case you ever need advice ;)
